Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah
A keen interest in analysis and debates motivated him to participate in and win the year 2000 national Independence debate for Secondary School students. With a natural desire to improve the fortunes of every environment in which he finds himself, Kojo has taken up leadership roles at various stages in his life. From Senior Prefect of Pope John Secondary School to becoming the projects director of the Students in Free Enterprise, University of Cape Coast (SIFE-UCC) in 2003 – during which period he led his team to win the SIFE Ghana Business competition for Tertiary students and on to represent Ghana at the SIFE world cup in Barcelona Spain later that year.) As a young man with keen interest in exploring new frontiers, he set up his first company at age 23 while in University to publish a local campus Newspaper. The setting up of this company which was born also out of a desire to access and disseminate information culminated in his initial journalism training and his current job as Host of the flagship breakfast show on One of Ghana’s leading radio stations JOYfm - the Super Morning Show. Prior to this, he worked as a treasury analyst for the British American Tobacco company ltd, a multinational company with high financial compliance standards. He still works as a financial analyst and a business development consultant for a number of corporate entities in Accra, Ghana. He additionally serves as a director on the board of a securities company, as executive director of a media content development company and a board member of the Student’s in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Ghana. A Christian, single and full of exuberance, Kojo’s personal passion is to empower people with information that enables them take control of their own situations and better their own lot. He believes that with knowledge man takes better decisions and eventually becomes better of. His most fulfilling days are days on which he learns something new because “knowledge or information is what empowers us”. He enjoys watching football and spends the best part of his free moments reading watching movies or chatting with friends.
